One wheel on his wagon (nearly!)

Trevor and Adrian visit Barry at his workshop.  He has taken on the task of manufacturing a wooden pattern of a tub-boat wheel that can be used to make a mould into which molten iron will be cast.  The mould required for each wheel has to be made in two halves which are pressed into ‘green’ sand packed in special casting boxes by the foundry master.

Barry is already at his lathe completing turning one side of the pattern by the time they arrive.  He has previously completed one half, which looks really good.  As soon as the second half is finished Adrian will take the pattern to  a foundry and the casting process can begin.
